Smart RF studio 7 (2.3.1) and multiple CC-Debuggers

$

Hi,

I'm running Smart RF studio on Win 8.1 which is quest in Virtualbox.

I'm not able to use two CC-Debuggers simultaneously. only device which is connected first is usable. Smart RF studio shows that only one device is connected. Both debuggers can be used independently and also together with Smart RF Flash programmer.

Can someone confirm that it is possible to use multiple CC-Debuggers with same type of SoC in Smart RF studio?

Code Composer Studio for TI RF BY the industry leader in Lower Power RF

After using CC1101 on projects at work I want to to buy a dev board and dig deeper into the low level features of TI RF chips I was about to buy a

CC1120 Development Kit as it includes a   MSP430 Debug jtag then came the big turnoff

This kit requires IAR EW . As a former TI employee and avid fan of CCS I was flabbergasted it didn't include CCS support for MSP

If I had a dime for every kit I bought for either WIFI or Blue Tooth used IAR and when I bought it the code size limited feature of IAR prohibited me from doing anything REAL I'd be rich

Come on TI you must have have a MSP based kit(8051 ARRRRRG)  that uses CCS

I already have a 2540/60 based kit that supports CCS and TI-RTOS the problem is the Bluetooth overhead is too much of a slope

My goal is to 6LOWPAN or RFMESH using all TI hardware(CCXXXXX+TI Micro) and CCS  software . TI is the industry leader and provides CCS free versions that are not size limited for ARM or am I mistaken

I don't want to wade through another dev kit starter guide and get disappointed again

Can anyone tell me if the beast I seek exists ?

Problem with Packet RX/TX Tests in SmartRF Studio with CC2530 and CC2590

Hi, I have a circuit with a CC2530 and a CC2590 implemented. When i use my implemented embedded radio FW to control the radio, the performance is alright when looking at range and packet loss. I would then use the SmartRF Studio to measure the number of packets received and using a spectrum analyser testing the maximum output performance.

Unfortunately I am experiencing that the output is approximately 40dBm below the measured output with my implemented embedded radio FW. I tried setting a breakpoint in IAR at the point of transmit, so I could see the radio registers and GPIOs.

I have tried the exact same values in Smart RF Studio, but the result is the same, I still measure 40dBm less.
What am I doing wrong? Please open my config file.

(Please visit the site to view this file)

Here is a snip of my schematic, I know that it is not the GPIOs from the evaluation design, but that should not make any difference!? At least it doesn't with my implemented embedded FW.

Simon

Chip not supported-2530-IAR Workbench

Hi people,

I am having an issue on compiling the demo programs from TI to program my SmartRF05 board. For the PER test demo, I saw that the hal_board.h file has configurations for specific SoC type. I also saw mine(CC2530) is listed there, however, IAR is still complaining about not supporting the chip. Anyone had this issue before.

PS: the variable is named 'chip' on hal_board.h but I couldn't find any line in the whole project file of PER demo, to set it to 'CC2530'.

Edit: The following is a code fragment from "hal_board.h". So, the question can be narrowed to, where do you set the chip variable 'chip' to your specific board?

#if (chip==2430)
#include "ioCC2430.h"
#elif (chip==2431)
#include "ioCC2431.h"
#elif (chip==2530 || chip==2531)
#include "ioCC2530.h"
#elif (chip==2510)
#include "ioCC2510.h"
#elif (chip==2511)
#include "ioCC2511.h"
#elif (chip==1110)
#include "ioCC1110.h"
#elif (chip==1111)
#include "ioCC1111.h"
#else
#error "Chip not supported!"
#endif

MSP-FET430UIF's configuration to read out through TDO

Dear Fellows,

I am working with the CC430F5137 micro-controller in an OLIMEX MSP430-CCRF board. Additionally,  I dispose of the MSP-FET430UIF to debug and flash the board. When I connect the debugger to my Linux machine, it uses only the ttyACM0 port, fact that doesn't allow me  to establish a bidirectional communication between the PC to the Launchpad. Then, I can not settle an UART communication to print the current status of the program I flashed into the Launchpad.

After reviewing the documentation provided by TI, the debugger  does not have TXD/RXD pins.

How can I make the C's printfs using the JTAG?

CC Debugger driver installation

Hi,

I got today a CC Debugger and had problems installing it in a brand new Lenovo W550s running Windows 7 Pro that has already installed CCSv6, SmartRF Tool, BTool and the like.  I am getting the Unknown Device error with Code 29.  I tried 2.0 and 3.0 ports to no avail. I re-installed the drivers (v1.2.0), nothing.  All the other stuff runs fine: SmartRF06, XDS200, USBCC2540 dongle.

Of course I tried all the tricks already (DN304 included).  All looks ok.  Now, to see if there was any problem with the CC debugger itself (which, BTW, when I connected it to the CC2540 dongle and to any of the USB ports it shows a green light, as the CC2540 does too, thus indicating the dongle was recognized properly) I tried connecting it to my main machine running Linux and having Windows 7 virtualized: Windows does not get any indication of the CC Debugger been connected at all and when I look the output from dmesg it shows this:

[  253.808558] usb 1-10: new full-speed USB device number 12 using xhci_hcd
[  253.920659] usb 1-10: device descriptor read/64, error -71

[  255.826313] usb usb1-port10: unable to enumerate USB device

It looks like there is something wrong with the CC Debugger, that message is sometimes associated with a current higher than the port can provide.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

Hello.

I'd like to know if CC Debugger (including SOC-BB board) can be used in combination with CC1120EMK-169 modules, e.g. for RX/TX testing with Smart RF Studio or Packet Sniffer.

Thank you in advance.

SMARTRF06EBK troubleshooting

Hi, I'm having troubles with the cc1310 development kit. One of the SMARTRF06EBK is not working, SN:0x1025F.

After following the instructions of the quick start guide of the CC1310 EM the screen show nothing, while the other SMARTRF06EBK work as expected. Have interchanged the CC1310EM and the SMARTRF06EBK, and both CC1310EM works on the not faulty. Have checked the configuration switches and both boards are the same.

By visual inspection, i couldn't find any misaligned component or fabrication mistake.

The board was tested first with 2 AAA batteries, and after that, with usb power supply. When plugged on the pc, the XDS100v3 is correctly recognized, as well as the serial port. But the screen keep showing nothing.

What should i do? maybe some firmware update needed?

regards, Pablo

Hi,

It seems text view works strange in Paket RX tab. Please see screenshots below. Both represent view for the same TX packets.

If I remove check-box "Seq. number included in payload" I can't see text.

hi support,

I can set and red reg correctly, also I can burst write data into tx fifo, once I excuted stx, I can see it is set correctly from status returning. but two problems:

1) the value of txbytes keeps increasing, it looks not get sent out.

2) I checked  MARCSTAT, it looks radio goes into rx mode.

as a result, I can not receive the data from receiver.

I want to connect CC2531 dongle to the BeagleBone Black. BeagleBone runs on Linux (Debian). Now I am in need of  cc2531 driver for Beagle Bone.

I Downloaded the "Z-Stack_Linux_Gateway_1_0_1_installer" But its for Computer running with the Linux (32 or 64bit os).

Can any one please share me the driver for cc2531 or guide me on how to work with this dongle by connecting it to Beagle Bone.

How to connect CC Debugger with RF-BM-S02 BLE module ?

$

Hi,

First of all, sorry if my English is not perfect. It's not my mother tongue.

I try to connect a RF-BM-S02 Bluetooth module to CC Debugger but the light stay red. This module use CC2540/41 ( mine use CC2541 ).

I have checked the connection between us and all signals are at the right place and I have not forgotten to connect 3.3V on pin 9 and pin 2 on the debugger.

I have updated the firmware ( 0044 ). BLE module is visible when I make bluetooth scan.

I don't know why CC Debugger don't recognize BLE module.

Is anyone ever had this problem ?

Thanks in advance.

'm trying to read the temperature value from DHT so i have to respect the time limits which are required to get the correct value, so to make the sensor start i have to give it one on the data port for 18ms and wait between 20-40 us so i tried to use asm("nop") instruction to get these periods, but still not working
