Hi,

I'm using CC1101 tranciever for my application. I want to use the ASYNCHRONOUS SERIAL OPERATION. Everything working well with RX mode data. But in TX mode, i cant put data in GDO0 pin. In application note, it recommend to set GDO0 pin by 0x2E value. but when i put data by UART from MCU to GDO0 pin, data can not sent to CC1101. When i use USB debug to catch data, no data out in this wire when i setup register of CC1101, but when i turn off CC1101 UART had sent right data.

Can you explain it? And what should value to set GDO0 pin?

Thanks.

CC26xx higher data rates

Hi,

In chapter 23 of CC26xx technical reference manual (swcu117a.pdf) is mentioned that this family can support data rates up to 5Mbps, however SmartRF Studio only supports standard modes (ZigBee, BlueTooth...).

Is there any document, example codes, flowcharts to initialize the CC2650 for higher data rates (i.e. using modulation type, symbol rate, bandwidth..) ?

Thanks

Programming process for production

Hi TI fellas,

I am looking for a programming house so we can have the cc2531 flashed and ready for production stage. I though any of you might know a programming house you could recommend. Does TI provide this service?

On the other hand, if you know of a manufacturing house (PCB + components placement) that worked well with you, I'd be happy to hear.

I am a rookie in manufacturing issues...

Many thanks guys

Hej

My first setup I had two CC1101 connected to SmarfRF and they communicated fine.

I then took one out of SmartRF and used Packet Sniffer instead to see if I could snif the signal the other one was broadcasting through SmartRF, but I couldn't.

I have exported settings from SmartRF and used them for the Packet sniffer.

CC1110Fx RF Issue

Hello TI community,

We have developed a CC1110 based Design with the help of reference design provided by TI,

We have placed on board PCB antenna, the issue we are facing is the range performance difference when the antenna is in closed loop and open loop .

We were thinking the following may be the issue for range difference

1.When the antenna is enclosed in plastic casing the distance may getting reduced around 50m in non line of sight

when we use the antenna in open loop the distance is around 120m in non line of sight so is this closed loop affecting the board range? or Antenna matching circuit is affecting the board range or antenna feeding line is affecting the range?

Please confirm

2.Also we would like to know what is the gain of antenna designed in CC1110 reference design

3.What is the nominal output power of CC1110 & how it affects on balanced ,unbalanced circuit & feeding line of antenna

4.Can we use external antenna instead of PCB antenna ,If yes,Any circuit changes need to be done in the antenna matching?

5.If we want to use external antenna what is the maximum gain we need to use for best performance?

Best Regards

Hello,
I am Jyothi from Your Embedded Systems Pvt Ltd,
We have purchased the following kits of TI
We also designed custom PCB for both with the help of reference design,
We have used on board Antenna but we are facing issue with the range so we want to try with external antenna
1.If we want to use what should be antenna Specifications for design of CC1100?
And what is your suggested manufacturer with the specifications?
2.If we want to use external antenna for the design of CC1190 what should be antenna specifications?
And along with the kit we received 2 whip antennas?
Can you please let me know what are it specification and where can we get purchased it?
We want to use the same in our design ,
Also how these changes affects the RF distance?
Kindly suggest and confirm the details for further process
Best Regards
Jyothi

CC1125 RSSI read issue

Hi,

I have some trouble reading the 8/12bit RSSI register values.

In my setup I am communicating between an LPC4078FBD144 MCU and the CC1125 RF chip over SPI. I have two of these setups. The SPI works and sending a package and reading out the raw RSSI also works. Each second I send a package, and each second I listen and receive the package including the RSSI and LQI values by reading out the FIFO register from the CC1125RF.

Now I want to get the exact 12bit RSSI value each time a package is received.(to determine the distance between these set ups)

I tried reading out the RSSI0 and RSSI1 registers, but both give me a constant value and nothing looks like the raw RSSI value.

Then I tried resetting the AGC_GAIN_ADJUST and AGC_CFG0 register. But still the same values occur.

I don't know what to write to these registers to read out the correct RSSI0 and RSSI1 values. When do these registers(RSSI0/RSSI1) get updated?

*EDIT*

These are my values I receive out of the read registers.

My RSSI0 value I get = 00010111 (0x17)

My RSSI1 value I get = 00011000 (0x17)

The RSSI appending byte I get: 10100010 (0xA2) -> This value does change, the closer the higher it gets, the more further away the smaller it gets.

Thanks!

Hi,

I am unable to find any examples for CC2650 (specifically sensortag) for CCS

The only 'Hello World' example doesn't compile as it is missing a startup file.

As well CC26xxware used by Contiki 6LoWPAN is not recognized by CCS.

SmartRF™ Packet Sniffer on Windows-8

Hi Team,

I have installed "SmartRF™ Packet Sniffer" on windows-8 PC.  I have connected "CC USB Dongle" to PC.

Now when I run sniffer application from,

C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\SmartRF Tools\Packet Sniffer\bin\Packet Sniffer.exe it launches properly.

Now it asks to select protocol type and chip, I select Bluetooth low energy and click on Start button.

One new window opens in which when I click on Start the packet capturing button it dose not start and even don't give any error.

What Ideally should happen is when I click on start button, pause button should be enabled and start button will get disabled but the same is not happening

and no error is displayed.

I have fresh received development kit and I haven't flashed anything.  USB dongle is tested with B-Tool to work with Keyfob.

Please guide.

Using CC1101 GDO0 as clock output

Hello,

I want to clock the MCU with CC1101 XOSC GDO0 output. According to the datasheet, this is possible with default GDO0 configuration.

Most of time CC1101 will be in SLEEP mode. So i must set XOSC_FORCE_ON to 1 to keep XOSC running.

I'm planning to set CLK/16 @ 26MHz to get 1625kHz.

Three questions :

1) do you confirm i can reliably do it this way ?

2) what is the current consumption during SLEEP + XOSC_FORCE_ON ? (100 uA or another value ?)

3) should i put a serial resistor between GDO0 and MPU clock input to reduce HF noise ? And what is best value ? (100R, 1K, 10K ? mcu input capacitance is < 30pF)

Thank you

Hallo,

I have maesured the Bandwidth of the output signal of a CC1200, by 868 MHz, with approximadly 10 kHz. Is this correct or are my konfigurations 9,6 bps and 3,9 kHz frequency deviation not rigth? I use the 2-GFSK Modulation.

CC1200 EMK Modul Problem

Hi Guys,

i build my own Hardware for CC1200 with the Antenna from DN024. As MCU i use a FR5969. For testing i port the cc120x_easy_link porgramm with orginal register settings. But it will not communicate with the TI CC1200EMK-868-930 Board.

So i tried the direct communication between the EMK Boards. We have at least 12 EMK Moduls and i notice some disappointing behavior.

I tried every modul as RX and as TX part with all the other moduls. Also used a FR5969 (TS430RGZ48C) and the SOC_BB to mount the EMKs.
Green = the Paket received successfully.
Red = the Paket is corrupted or nothing was received.

For my own designs i have some Sample IC (TI 37I AQJ2 G4) and 300x from Mouser (TI 48I AE1Y G4).
So before i got more frustrated by searching the design flaw in my layout... is it even possible to communicate with one of the EMK Moduls?

Thanks for your help!

Andreas

Range extender reference design for CC2650?

Is there a suitable range extender reference design for the CC2650 (CC26XX)?

In any case is a power amplified design always recommended to be 4 layers?  2 would be preferable to minimise costs.

Hi all,

i want design fw to transmit RF signed with IC RFaxis X2401c,

My problem:

IC X2401c must control transimit and receive RF with 2 pin: Tx enable and Rx enable.

I use Zstack Home automation 1.2.1

I should define Tx enable and Tx enable where in Zstack without affecting Zstack

I appreciate any help now, thanks you!

Drill sizes for CC2592 stand alone reference design?

Trying to fix-up the drill files for the CC2592 stand-alone range extender reference design (CC2592EM-1-4.drl and CC2592EM-1-4-np.drl), which appear to have somewhat non standard headers, as shown below.  Am unclear about the drill sizes are these in mils, i.e.  7.874015 mils and 59.094488 mils respectively? And should the header indicate metric or inches?

Best wishes, Ron.

TI CC1101 power up Issue

$

In a school project at Texas A&M my group has been attempting to implement a PCB design in which a MSP430, CC1101 and CC1190 are all on a single board for communications. To this point we have been unable to communicate with the CC1101 although the proper SPI connections have been made.

Currently No voltage is received on the R_Bias pin although the transceiver chip has 2.75V on all inputs.

Additionally, both ground pins are successfully connected to ground.

I cannot help but wonder if this issue is related to the die attach pad which must also connect to ground. Currently a ground trace runs to this pad, is this the correct implementation of the design?

The current PCB design with the power and ground lines can be seen below.

Any and all Input is appreciated.

Thanks,

Tyler

C1200 questions

Hi Support,

I am in the process of purchasing the CC1200 development kit to test transmitting data in an outdoor setting.  We would like to send anywhere from 30 bytes to 4KB of data from one unit to another.  The distance we would like to cover is a minimum of 200 m.  I was reviewing the data sheet for the CC1200 and it seems like a good fit but I would like to know if this is the best transceiver to use for our application?

Also, I noticed that it can be configured for the 433 MHz band as well as the 900 MHz band.  If we choose the 433 MHz band, could we cover the distance as well as transmit, worse case scenario, 4KB of data?  There is a range extender for the 900 MHz band but I do not see one for the 433 MHz band.  Is a range extender availiable for the 400 MHz band?

Another requirement is for our project is to send the data on a request basis.  A typical scenario is would be user A pressing a button to send data and putting the radio to sleep until user A presses the button again.  Can this scenario be accomplished?

Look forward to your response as we would like to purchase the development kits as soon as possible.

Thanks,

Michael
